Discerning God's Will

WEIGH IN Against Hunger
We are joining other faith congregations in the Lehigh Valley to fight hunger in our neighborhood. The Challenge: Between now and Thanksgiving bring food equal to one-tenth your weight to the cart in the Narthex or congribute one-tenth your weight in dollars to the Second Harvest Food Bank -- JUst think of the impact we can make!!
Sunday School Has BEGUN!
The Sunday School year has begun. As always, we need volunteers to teach and assist in the classroom (It's as little as a 4 week commitment to volunteer -- you can contact Alice Karpa for more details). The Sunday School is in need of new or used pillar candles, 3 or 4-inches in diameter, of any height and small milk cartons ( Please place them in the carton in the Narthex)
NOTE: Members can visit the Spiritual Formation Ministry page for a look at the 2008-2009 Sunday School Rotation schedule. The first rotation starts September 21st with Penecost.
Soles Financial Donations needed
We need help to cover the shipping costs to send over 300 pairs of shoes collected by the "Soles for Souls" shoe drive. Contact Michele at 610.838.0472 or m.gubish@yahoo.com to contribute.
Start Thinking About Ingathering
This year Christ Hellertown is responsible for collecting 175 lotions for the holiday ingathering charity -- Please put it on your shopping list... there will be a basket in the Narthext to collect your donations. THANKS for your support!
Free Christian Clowning Workshop
At St. Paul United Methodist Church Oct 25 from 9am to 2pm. Learn rudiments of miming, applying clown makup, clown skits, and more. Clown Makeup provided -- bring cold cream, baby oil, a table mirror, an old wash cloth, a lunch (and even some friends). Share your Heart and Home
Host families needed for International Exhange students. Teems from Europe, Asia, and Latin America will be arriving in August for enrollment in local High Schools for the 2008/2009 Academic year. Host families proivde a bed and meals as well as friendship, understanding, and a real desire to share the American way with teens from 15 to 18 years of age. 4th and 5th Graders in Good News Acadamy
4th and 5th graders are invited to Join Pastor Phil one hour a month for 7 months starting Thursday, October 30, from 3:45-4:45 (Saucon studentscan be picked up by the church van). Material to be covered is based on the God and Family badgets of the Boy/Girl Scounts of America. Program will culminate with a Pizza Party and Award ceremony at the church in May.
Nursery Help Needed
There is a desparate need for Nursery Volunteers for the Traditional service starting at 8:30am and Sunday School at 10:45am - Please sign up on the kiosk or contact Carolyn.
Christ Lower Saucon Ham and Chicken Dinner
Christ Lutheran Lower Saucon is having a Ham and Chicken dinner on October 25 from 4:30-7PM. The menu includes roasted chicken, ham, filling mashed potatoes, green beans, salid w/ bacon dressing, dessert, and beverage - Prices are $12 for adults, $6 for children 6 to 12 years of age.
Living with Loss Support Group
When someone loses a loved one we often feel overwhelmed, frightened & lonely - Sharing our thoughts and feelings
with others who have experieneced a loss can alleviate our sense of loneliness and give us needed encourangement. Wednesday nights, 9/24/08 thru 10/29/08 from 7 to 8:30 PM, a grief support group will
meet at Christ Lutheran Church - Lower Saucon (857 S Easton road Hellertown, PA). Led by a counseling professional, the group will share experiences and coping strategies. It's FREE but advanced registation is

Free Hospice Training Course
Lehigh Valley Hospice is offering a free volunteer Training Course. The 3-week traning period begins October 14th for twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 8:30AM to Noon. As a volunteer, your support may include Companionship for the patient, respite for primary caregivers, emotional support for families, Bereavement support,and clerical help.
